Shamika Antwine Boone, Program Project Manager and Doula at Oklahoma Birth Equity Initiative
Shamika, a proud Tulsa native, has spent over 20 years supporting families through education, child welfare, and birthwork. Her passion for advocacy shines through every role she’s held, with Tulsa Public Schools, The Department of Human Services and to guiding birthing families as a doula and educator with Oklahoma Birth Equity Initiative (OKBEI). Her mission remains consistent to ensure every laboring person is seen, heard, and empowered in their birth experience.
Shamika is a graduate of Langston University and holds certifications as a Community-Based Doula with OKBEI, a DONA Birth Doula, a Peanut Ball Ambassador, and a Childbirth Educator. She currently serves as Board Vice Chair for Fostering Connections and was instrumental in the City of Tulsa's official recognition of Community Doula Week.
As Program Project Manager at OKBEI, she has been integral to the doula program’s foundation. She supervises doulas and leads signature projects, including the annual Community Doula Summit.
In 2022, Shamika saw a gap in new community-based doulas that needed a welcoming, empowering space to grow and connect. Her vision birthed OKBEI’s Community Doula summit that builds sisterhood, offers continuing education credits, and recognizes excellence with awards like Doula of the Year and Sisterhood Doula of the Year.
Shamika continues to uplift, unite, and lead with the purpose of fostering equity, confidence, and community for doulas and families throughout Tulsa and beyond.
